Ambassador Highlight: Richard James

We are excited to introduce you to Richard James, a new Pro Staff Ambassador this season out of beautiful Nashville, Tennessee. Following in his dad’s footsteps as a firefighter in the Nashville area, he also runs guide trips out on Percy Priest for everyone, including country music singers! So appropriate for Nashville.

Richard has been a part of the Percy Priest Hybrid and Striper Club for over 30 years, holding multiple club records and awards.

In his words – “I’ve been fishing as far back as I can remember me walking; my love for the water is unlike no other. I’ve got to be on the water at least one to three times a week.”

Keep reading for Richard’s tips and recommendations –

What Fitec nets do you use and why?
GS 1500 Ultra Spreader – 10’ radius, ¼” mesh
GS 1000 Ultra Spreader Tape – 10’ radius, ½” mesh
These nets are BAR NONE the softest, easiest opening net I’ve ever thrown!

What types of fish do you focus on catching, and what types of bait do you need for them?
Fish: Trophy hybrids, stripers, catfish
Bait: Gizzard shad, threadfin shad, skipjack

Any other gear/Nashville resources you love and recommend?
Off Shore Tackle planer boards – these are the best in the business

Also – Baddazz bait, Nichols Lures, Trik Fish custom fishing lines, Extreme Bait tanks, Rippin Lips rods, HKD Fishing gear, Thunder Rocket Lures, Sharpe Hook Bait and Tackle, Perry’s Smokin’ Pig, and Papa Turneys Old Fashion BBQ

What are your pro tips for beginner anglers or those who want to improve their game?
Just put time in and you’ll learn. You can watch videos on fishing and that’s fantastic. But you will learn more actually fishing than you will with anything else. Be a good steward, honest, and always respect the resources that we’re blessed to enjoy
FISH ON!
